Announcing 2015 Guest Judges

We called in some help to select the top designs in the three themes chosen for the first annual Furniture Flip, and are thrilled to have the expertise, skills, and input of the following guest judges:

John Paul from John Paul Designs, Judging Top “Central Oregon Centric” Design

John Paul has been designing jewelry in downtown Bend for more than 15 years. He’s very conscious with his sourcing, using recycled metals, post-consumer gold, used tools, and conflict-free diamonds. With a rustic modern aesthetic and a heart for reuse, he’s the perfect judge to choose the top design for the “Central Oregon Centric” theme.

Sam from Clear 101.7, Judging Top “Ugly Duckling” Transformation

You can hear radio DJ Sam on-air weekdays from 5:30 to 10 a.m., and solo in the middays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. As judge of the “Ugly Duckling” design theme — where designers have beautified an eyesore — Sam’s comedic skills should come in handy. She can definitely appreciate the creativity required to rescue a disaster otherwise destined for the dump.

Kristi Teasdale from Befaux and After Painting, Judging Top “Creatively Repurposed” Design

Kristi, an avid ReStore shopper, is currently designing and building an art studio made from many materials found at ReStore. She’s also been a designer for ReStore’s Rubbish Renewed Eco Fashion Show for four years, transforming trash into wearable fashion. With a talent for repurposing, she will choose the top “Creatively Repurposed” design.

Our guest judges will inspect all the submitted designs during the Furniture Flip Design Challenge public show and sale on April 25 from 7-10 p.m, at Armature.

Winners will be revealed online May 1.
